You are asked to lay out what you think our position might be. what do you think are our needs and our fears?
If both sides are accurately aware of both positions then it becomes that much easier to design a way forward. Misperceptions are the basis of misunderstanding and disagreement. It sometimes happens that one party has a very wrong impression of the other party's position. Any expressed position can be corrected and amended as need be. This code is not unlike the attention directing code, which directs attention to another person's views.
