Sure, let's talk. Let's discuss things. I am willing to listen with out judging. I have the time. So let's talk.
This is the positive reply to all the different requests for discussion, talking, advice, etc.
There is a commitment of time and motivation. There is a willingness to talk on a 'discussion' rather than a judgemental basis. There is a commitment to talk as 'friend to friend'. At the same time the wisdom and experience of the adult is available.
It is obvious that the code should not be abused. If the adult agrees to talk on a 'friend' basis and then switches to the judgement role, then the code loses credibility for that person. To abuse a code is to lose a code. There may be a very temporary advantage but once credibility is lost it cannot be regained.
Agreeing to 'talk' is as significant as fighters agreeing to negotiate.
