What do you really think and feel about this? I would like an honest answer- not one designed to please me.
Many of the youth code items seem to be directed by a parent or adult to a youngster. Many of them, however, can equally be used by a youngster talking to a parent or adult. This particular code is a good example.
A youngster may ask what a parent really thinks and feels about some proposed action. In exactly the same way a parent might ask a youngster what he or she feels about something; for example going to live in another place.
The emphasis is on 'really', and on honesty. The code indicates that it is all right to be honest and blunt. There is no need for the diplomatic reply.
The answer should not require the listener to read between the lines or to interpret what has been said. The answer should be clear and honest.
'You asked for my honest feeling. This is what I feel.'
The person replying has been given full permission to be as honest as he or she can.
If you do not want an honest answer then do not use this code.
