The commentator is not seeking to be dishonest or prejudiced or to make a case; the view is nevertheless subjective. While the writer of a geography textbook may succeed in being objective, the writer of a history textbook may not. There has to be speculation about connections, influences and causes and effects. So the ultimate result is much more personal. The same applies to a sports commentator. A reviewer of films or books is in the same position. There may be an attempt at honest objectivity but the result is still subjective and is intended to be subjective. An art critic is in the same position.
