There are some tasks which involve other people. The task may be performed well but if there is a lack of people skills the result may be mixed.
There are technical tasks which do not need to involve other people, so technical brilliance is enough. At other times, and more usually, other people are involved. People skills are needed in addition to technical brilliance.
