The way forward may involve abandoning a rigid position and being more flexible. The way forward may involve introducing new concepts and principles. Going back and forth over the old ground is not likely to take things further. Blaming the other side may be justified but is not very helpful. There needs to be a joint effort to move forward. It is not a matter of 'playing chicken' and holding out until the other side gives in.
