This relationship has been dying for sometime. The spark and energy has gone out of it. Perhaps its time to move on.
The difference between 14/1 and 14/2 is that in 14/1 the energy may still be there but the future looks bleak and impossible. With 14/2 the energy will have slowly evaporated. It is now simply a matter of putting the full stop at the end of the sentence. A car tyre may have a slow leak. The result of this leak is only felt when almost all the air has gone out of the tyre. In the same way the fact that a relationship is dying may only become noticeable right at the end. Usually, there is not even the motivation to put more air into the tyre. Where the feeling is mutual, then the code provides a convenient acknowledgement. Where the feeling is one-sided, then the other partner really needs to know what is going on. The danger is always that a temporary 'dip' may be misdiagnosed as a terminal decline. This is a danger however the feelings are expressed.
